Clinical Practice
Dr Anna Martinez is clinical lead of Paediatric Dermatology at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Child Health, University College London. Anna’s private practice is based at GOSH and The Portland Hospital for Women & Children.
Anna trained at St Bartholomew’s Hospital and was appointed as a Consultant in Paediatric Dermatology at Great Ormond Street Hospital in January 2003.
Since her appointment Anna has led the Nationally Commissioned Service for Epidermolysis Bullosa and is a world leader in the management of skin fragility diseases. She set up the combined allergy/dermatology service at GOSH and is an expert in the management of complex eczema in infants and young children.

Areas of interest
Dr Martinez's special clinical interests are eczema, skin fragility disorders and vascular anomalies. She also specialises in the management of the inherited ichthyoses and Netherton syndrome. She is a recognised world leader in the clinical management of skin fragility disorders, and leads an ultraspecialist multidisciplinary team at GOSH.

RESEARCH
Anna is currently Principal Investigator for a large number of novel therapy clinical trials including gene therapy. She has just been awarded in 2021 a large grant from NIHR to run a national stem cell study in children with severe ecessive dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa. Anna has an extensive publication list and she is a regular lecturer both nationally and internationally
